Annapurna Region is the first region in Nepal opened for trekking in 1977. It has remained the most popular trekking area ever since, attracting the highest number of trekkers. Annapurna region is home to Annapurna Himalayan range and Annapurna Conservation Area Project.
Trekking in the Annapurna Region starts at a low altitude, gently winding through subtropical gorges, forests, waterfalls and numerous villages up to the incredible Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Ranges. This region is inhabited by the Magar, Gurung, Brahmin, Chhetri communities, who are a mixture of Buddhists and Hindus. Trekking in the Annapurna region is more of a cultural experience with tea houses dotting the trail to welcome you with a hot lemon drink or chiya, the local tea. Sunrise over the famous Fishtail mountain or Machhapuchare, will leave you breathless.
Everest Region or Solukhumbu is famous for being the home of Mt. Everest, Sagarmatha National Park and Sherpa people. Solu Khumbu region has become one of the most coveted trekking routes in the world. Enjoy the adrenaline rush of flying into Lukla, and trek through the most picturesque and exhilarating alpine landscape of high mountain pastures dotted with turquoise lakes combine with deep gorges and glacier ice flows. The Sherpas are renowned the world over for their good humor, strength, endurance, and mountaineering skills as well as for their drink tungba and traditional dance and song.
