If you are interested in taking a mountain photography tour with Gorakh Bista, then this is your opportunity. Listed below are two places Gorakh has personally hand-picked for your next mountain photography tour. Note: The photography tour involves trekking in the mountains for several days in the company of a professional trekking guide and crew.

  1. Spend extra days in and around the site specially chosen for photography
  2. Capture marvelous diversity and variation in terms of geography, landscape, culture and colour
  3. Learn to feel and observe natural elements the photographer’s way: listen to sound of nature in solitude, wind, ice melting, glaciers, avalanches, stream
  4. Turn each and every minute into adventure you will cherish for a lifetime
  5. The trekking and the photography site is easily accessible

1. Kwanchoeling, Upper Mustang

Kwanchoeling is located in Upper Mustang region close to the border between Nepal and Tibet (China). “Kwanchoeling” in local language means abode of female Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara. The site can be reached within a few days of trekking. According to Bista, Kwanchoeling is a perfect spot for landscape photography. Here photographers are able to discover a remarkable variation in altitude, landscape and color. The rolling red landscape formation of Kwanchoeling against white Himalayan snow is an impressive sight to behold especially during blue and golden hours.

2. Gokyo & Gokyo Ri, Everest Region

Gokyo & Gokyo Ri is likely the world’s most prized site for photographers. Gokyo is right smack in the heart of Everest region and falls within Sagarmatha National Park which is a world heritage site. This journey will be different from your regular trek to Everest in that you will avoid crossing the Chola Pass and instead spend extra days for photography in Gokyo-Ri. The views of cloud formation over Gokyo Valley along with the panorama of Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse as the sun prepares to set in are purely magical. The panorama of the stars glittering in the open expansive night sky will be equally breathtaking. It obviously requires a lot of patience to witness such rare moments in nature. Only a photographer will be able to feel this gift of nature in a way unavailable to ordinary trekkers.
